Human Nature: Prosthetics, PollutioN,
Plants and a Possible Design Scenario

My dissertation acted as a context report for my studio practice,
exploring the intersection of science and design.

I believe design is integral to providing adaptations to climate change.
Whilst science determines the health of our world, from the parts per
million of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, to the genetic
mutations in species as a result of the loss of habitat due to
deforestation, design allows us to visualise and act on our relationship
with the earth.

Humanity is at a crucial turning point in our advancement, however,
artificial extensions cannot solve the problems and technology
cannot always provide the answers. It’s time to subvert our
enhancements, to reconnect with the environment and reveal the
divergent, yet infinitely richer, entwined future between human and
nature.
